What is Tea Board Registration License?

The Tea Board India is an organization administered by the Ministry of Commerce, the Government of India to promote tea production and the export of Indian tea. The Tea Board acts as an Export promotion agency for promoting Indian Tea and supporting the development of domestic Tea markets.

The Board, which is headquartered in Kolkata works towards boosting the growth of the Indian Tea industry by conducting international trade fairs, exhibitions, and other export promotional activities.

Every registered exporter of bulk tea, packet tea, tea bags, and instant tea is required to be registered with Tea Board for obtaining Registrationcum-Membership Certificate under the Export-Import Policy of the
Government of India to avail import/export entitlement/duty drawback benefits. The issuance of RCMC by the Tea Board is free of charge.

Why this License is Required?

Every registered exporter of bulk tea, packet tea, tea bags and instant tea is required to be registered with Tea Board for obtaining Registration- cum-Membership Certificate under the Export-Import Policy of the Government of India to avail import/export entitlement/duty drawback benefits.

The Tea Board India is responsible for the assignment of certification numbers to exports of certain tea merchants. This certification is intended to ensure the teas’ origin, which in turn would reduce the amount of fraudulent labelling on rare teas such as ones harvested in Darjeeling.
Required Documents for Tea Board RCMC
  1. Application form in prescribed format with properly signed along with date and seal of the proprietor, partner, Director, Authorized Signatory.
  2. Copy of Import Export Code (IEC) issued by DGFT.
  3. Copy of Tea Board’s exporter license.
