What is Application for Permit to import live insects and other arthropods/nematodes/microbial cultures including algae/bio-control agents

This permit provided by Ministry of Agriculture is reqiuired to import live insects and other arthropods/nematodes/microbial cultures including algae/bio-control agents, shall be made at least thirty days in advance to Plant Protection Adviser. A yellow-green colour tag or label in the form PQ14 shall be issued which shall be affixed on the parcel at the time of export.

  • Individuals involved in research, biological studies, or academic purposes.

  • Research institutions and universities conducting scientific or experimental work.

  • Government departments and laboratories engaged in agricultural or biological research.

  • Private companies / organizations importing bio-control agents or microbial cultures for commercial, agricultural, or industrial use.

  • Authorized importers or agents acting on behalf of the importer, in compliance with the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003.

All applicants must comply with the guidelines issued under the Destructive Insects and Pests Act, 1914 and related Plant Quarantine regulations.
